LIFEGUARDING CLASSES
The American Red Cross Lifeguarding Class consists of 37 hours of both class and pool work. Skill in Standard First Aid, Professional Rescue and Certified Lifeguarding will be taught by a Certified Water Safety Instructor. Successful completion of all skills & written tests required by the American Red Cross is needed for certification to be issued. To enter the physically demanding course you must be able to perform 500 yards of swimming, consisting of freestyle, front crawl, back stroke, breast stroke and treading water prior to entering the course. Books and Mask are purchased at the Red Cross.

If you are interested in participating in the Lifeguarding course, it is suggested that you telephone the YWCA at 814-536-3519, to have your name placed on the class roster, as the YWCA must have 10 interested individuals to hold the class.
